Affiliate Spam

First, let me say that affiliate marketing is a double-edged sword. On one side, it can bring in a nice income. On the other, it kinda goes against my internet morals at times. My wife makes a good full time income doing it. I just started Monday. Part of me loves it, because I can now stay home with my family and still earn a living(hopefully). Then, there's this part of me that can't stand some of the techniques I have to use to gain traffic.

I came from a job in IS. I'm very tech savvy. I've been an internet junkie since it started catching on in the early nineties. One thing I've always hated is the advertisements. I normally use a popup blocker and adblock plus. This keeps me from seeing many of the more annoying ads anyway. However, there's no telling how much money people have earned off of my online spending.

There's a few types of people I've never really liked. Marketing, sales, law, and politics tend to produce some of the most dishonest people. The whole money making strategy of these categories of people tends to be about fooling or misdirecting people. So becoming a marketer myself feels sort of dirty.

I'd rather feel dirty and free to come and go as I please than to feel clean and sitting in a cube from 8 to 5 every day.

Keyword research results

My wife and I have been up all night trying to get a grasp of keyword research. She has been doing the affiliate marketing thing for around 9 months now and I just started two days ago. We have found that the keyword research itself isn't all that hard but finding two applications that agree is. For instance, my wife usually checked keyword discovery to check on the number of searches a keyword gets. We have been trying out Market Samurai and the numbers it gives is completely different from the numbers we get in keyword discovery.

I don't reall know enough to judge which is right or wrong

Start of a new career

A few months ago my wife decided that she was sick of depending on me for money to buy stuff. I don't blame her. After 12 years working for the same company, I was severely underpaid. Companies have lost the knack for taking care of their existing employees, if they ever even had that knack at all.

So, to help alleviate her need to shop, she set out to make some extra money with a home web-based business endeavor. I told her that if she started making the big bucks that I would start doing it as well. Most people would love to be able to work from home, I have no doubt, but few actually know that you can.

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. My wife went from making zero to making more than me within 5 months. I worked in IS. I can program in quite a few languages. When I quit my job yesterday, they were offering me a twenty percent raise to stay. That either tells you how little I was making or that they really wanted to keep me. Either way, I have so much faith in this home business, that I gave up a dang good job and a twenty percent raise, just so I could do it too.

Quit my job

Wow, this has been an interesting week for me. I quit my job in order to pursue an online business opportunity. I actually woke up Monday morning, showered, dressed for work, and then decided to just not go in. It'll be a blight on my career. That's what my ex-boss said anyway. I really don't care. I didn't quit my job just to look for another.

If you are going to quit a job, why not just quit. This two week notice stuff is for the birds. If I'm quitting a job, why would I want to stick around two more weeks? Furthermore, why would they want me to stick around for another two weeks? I know, I know. Trust me.... I know the answer to those questions. I just think it's funny that when someone quits a job....They probably don't want said job....so why care what the company thinks.

I quit because I didn't see myself working for a company ever again actually. I quit the best job I've ever had because I believe I can make more working for myself. Some thought I was crazy. They may be right. We'll see.

Hidef on the new PS3

I've had a projector for a few years now. My current projector does 1080p resolution. I've not been able to take full advantage of it, however, except with my xbox 360. However, this only allows me to play games at 1080p.

My wife bought a PS3 yesterday. I grabbed an HDMI cable and a few blu-ray movies. They look amazing on this thing. I'm a little late, I know. There are plenty of non-geeks out there with PS3s and blu-ray. I've just had other things to spend my money on.

If you want blu-ray, you should go ahead and get a PS3. The price compared to a blu-ray player by itself is only about $100 difference. So spend the extra $100 and have a good game system to boot.
